Annie Lou Underwood Shorter was born on March 7th, 1932. She was born to the late Mary and Rufus Underwood of Eufaula, Alabama.
She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and shared her kindness with all who knew her. Her unwavering love and devotion to her family was evident in everything she did.
Annie Lou’s home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious home-cooked meals. She had a heart of gold and a giving spirit, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her wisdom, strength, courage and love will continue to guide her family and friends for generations to come.
Annie Shorter at the age of 92 peacefully passed away on February 24th, 2025, in Eufaula, Alabama. A lifelong resident of Eufaula, Annie Lou was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished member of her community.
Annie Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Rufus and Mary Underwood; her husband, Charlie Shorter Sr.; her dear son, the late Vincent Shorter, and her beloved daughters, the late Lillian Williams (Jim), Mattie Shorter and Beverly Comer (Ronald Sr.).
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her remaining children: Charlie Shorter (Clara), Moses Shorter (Phyllis), Kennedy Shorter (Jasmine) and Jeraldine Shorter. She was also a proud and loving grandmother of Jim Williams Jr, Derrell Williams, Jermaine Williams, Eric Cobbs (deceased), Jazmin Jackson, Oshua Shorter, Sierra Shorter, Vincent Shorter (deceased), Lisa Williams, Erica Shorter, Brandon Shorter, Cameron Shorter, Daren Ratliff, Ronald Comer Jr, Taylor Comer, Kaleb Comer Morgan Comer) and great-grandmother of twenty-six; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends whom she impacted dearly. Always treasuring every moment spent with her family.
She was the last of Rufus and Mary Underwood’s five children.
