Bessie Mae Peterman

Ms. Bessie Mae Peterman, age 85, was born on December 27, 1940 in Henry County on the Old Trail in Abbeville, Alabama. She peacefully transitioned on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Henry County Health & Rehab in Alabama with family. She was the daughter of the late J.C. and Annie Clark Peterman.

Bessie Mae was a member of Old Friendship A.M.E. Church in Shorterville, AL. She graduated from Henry County Training School in Abbeville. She worked at Navel Mill and Franklin Hardwood. She pursued a career at Henry County Health and Rehab for 27 years. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She loved shopping, helping others, and spending time with her family making memories.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Peterman, Jr. and John Wesley Peterman; and a daughter, Brenda Grimsley, all of Abbeville, AL. She is survived by a host of relatives, coworkers, and friends.

Ms. Peterman leaves in bereavement her two grandsons, Adam D. Grimsley II and Brandon Grimsley both of Abbeville, Alabama; and friend of the family Scott Hatfield
