Catherine Coleman Long was born on February 8, 1946 to the late Eddie Lee and Nancy Coleman. She was the eldest of ten children.
Sis. Long accepted Christ in her life as a child and became a member of Oakey Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Baker Hill, AL. Later, she became a member at New Hope Freewill Baptist in Abbeville, AL.
Preceded her in death are three siblings, Robert Coleman, James Lee Coleman, Fannie Francis Hill.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memories her children, Paul (Rachelle) Coleman of Apollo Beach, FL and Lesa Coleman of Baker Hill, AL. Her siblings: three sisters Hattie Lee Laster of Atlanta, GA, Nancy Ford of Clayton, AL and Aline Hill of St. Petersburg, FL. Three brothers Charlie Ed Coleman and Jerry Lee Coleman of St, Petersburg, FL, and Clarence (Julia) Coleman of Dothan, AL. She had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Catherine was a mother figure to several nieces, nephews, and cousins and more cherished memories to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church members, community, and service/leadership colleagues.
Catherine was a lady with many hats, and she wore them proudly. Catherine was a nurse, first black woman as an insurance saleswoman in Eufaula, ADC Chairperson for Barbour County, Case Aide for Barbour County DHR, first intake class for Leadership Barbour, Church Missionary President, Church Usher, Church and District secretary, Church District Youth Director for AL, Board Member for Boys and Girls Club in Eufaula Area, Member of Life Underwriters, Mayor Pro Tem of Baker Hill, AL.
