Mr. Edward Woods, born on January 18th, 1949, to William Woods Sr. and Ola Mae Thomas. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Mount Zion AME Church.
He was a student at Van Buren Elementary School. He was a graduate of T.V. McCoo High School, Class of 1967.
On March 26, 2025, the Lord called him to his eternal home, while he was a patient at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
Edward served in the United States Marines Corp and the Army, after graduating from High School. He was proud to be a Veteran and often bragged about serving in two branches of the military. One of his famous quotes is “Do your best and God will do the rest.’
He loved plants, (he had a green thumb), birds (you could always see him outside feeding his birds), and his dogs. He enjoyed playing dominos and cards and spending time with his friends and family. He loved all sports, but he was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Roll Tide. He enjoyed bragging rights each win against Auburn.
In addition to his parents, Ola Mae and William Woods Sr., he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Dora Williams, Robbie Mae Brown, Rena Mae Waters, and Emma Jean Christian.
Edward leaves to cherish his memories a devoted daughter, LaToya D. Gordon; one granddaughter, Charnesha Aniya Davis; brother, William (Cynthia) Woods Jr of Irvington, New Jersey; a sister, Clara Clark-Jenkins of Maplewood, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
