Frankie Goodson Obituary

With profound sorrow and deep love, we celebrate the life and legacy of Frankie Ulysus Goodson, who departed this world on May 29, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on January 20, 1973, in Abbeville, Alabama, Frankie was a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep devotion to his family and friends.

A proud graduate of Abbeville High School, Class of 1993, Frankie made his mark as an outstanding football player, admired for his determination, leadership, and fierce competitive spirit. His excellence on the field mirrored his character off it—resilient, humble, and full of heart. Frankie was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he found peace and purpose in worship. He especially enjoyed lending his voice to God, lifting up praise with sincerity and spirit. His connection to the Lord was a guiding light, and his presence in the church will be deeply missed by all who worshiped beside him.

Frankie was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Tom Anthony and Rutha Mae Goodson, whose guiding hands and nurturing spirits helped shape the values he carried throughout life. His love and bond with his mother, Stella Goodson of Abbeville, Alabama, remained steadfast and strong.

He was a devoted father to his two beloved children: Nia Goodson, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Noah Goodson, of Abbeville, Alabama, who is married to Devita Goodson. His role as a grandfather brought him unmatched joy—he adored and cherished his three grandchildren: Nylah, Cia, and Noah Jr. They were the light of his life and the heartbeat of his legacy. Frankie also leaves behind his devoted siblings: Lafreddie Goodson of New York City, Christopher Hardamond of Abbeville, and Misty Shipman of Abbeville. Together, they share a bond forged through love, laughter, and the shared experiences of life’s triumphs and trials.

Frankie’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. Known for his hilarious jokes and warm charisma, he was truly the life of the party. His smile lit up every room, and he never missed a chance to make someone laugh. Whether he was behind the mic, telling stories, or behind the grill at a family BBQ, Frankie made sure everyone was fed, loved, and full of joy.

His legacy is further carried on by a host of devoted aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends, including his special friend for life, Jackie King, and special friend, Jason Grimsley. Each one impacted by his generous heart, strong faith, and unwavering loyalty.
