Idella Lynn Obituary

Every life has a story. Every story has a lesson that deserves to be told and preserved. “Because she was, We are.” Idella was born to the proud parents of the late Robert and Mary Coxson Grace, September 19, 1927 and departed this life on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at 12:48 am. She was the second oldest child of ten children born to this union.  With the guidance of her parents, as a child she became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Abbeville, and later in life a member of the Apostalic House of Worship. She   attended Sunday School, Bible Study and Morning Worship faithfully. Growing up as a child, she could only finish the 8th grade, because there was no transportation to get them to Henry County Training School and she didn’t get to finish High School.

Idella was united in Marriage to the late Albert Lynn for fifty-two years and to this union they were proud parents of six children. Idella did not work outside the home when rearing her children. She prepared our family meals and she would always bless our food as we all sat down and ate together as a family. When discipline was needed in the family they did it together. She didn’t let anything shake her faith in God. After all her children were grown, Idella went to Adult Night School and received her GED from Wallace College on April 22, 1980.  She was employed with the St. Peter Child Development Center for over twenty-three years. She received numerous certificates in nutrition and for successfully completing Day Care for Children with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, Auburn University January 19, 1991.

She was truly touched by an Angel to be here on this earth for ninety-five years and never been down sick. Up until last year, she was still preparing Sunday and holiday dinners for all of her family and would welcome anyone else who randomly stopped by to eat at her table, and there were many! She lived to see Five Generations. She will truly be missed.

Idella was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert Lynn, her son Willie Howard, her brothers Robert Earl Grace, Lewis Grace, Thomas Earl Grace and her sisters Mary Easter Hill, Lucy Enoch, and Alberta Grace. She leaves cherished memories to  her son Foye Lynn-Abbeville, AL; four daughters, Mary Johnson- Abbeville, AL, Catherine McKay-Headland, AL, Janice Knight-Ozark, AL and Derry Lynn-Abbeville, AL; a granddaughter that she raised as her own, Deborah Dozier-Enterprise, AL; two sisters, Martha Nelson-Rochester, NY and Annie Ruth Gulley-Montgomery, AL; two sisters-in-law, Mae O. Grace (Hannah)-Abbeville and Martha R. Grace-Dothan; a special nephew, Xavier Grace and a special niece, Marjorie Walker. Idella had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The size of the Love is the size of the Loss.
