James Fenn Obituary

James Earl Fenn was born to the late Calvin Fenn, Sr. and Georgia Lee Fenn on October 2, 1958 in Eufaula, AL. Affectional known as “Too Short”, James was a cherished father, a dear sibling, a loving confidant and longtime friend to Virginia Tyson. His family meant everything to him, and he treasured the moments spent with them, especially his very special grandson PopHim aka Poppi.

James attended the Kingdom Hall for many years and eventually was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. James, whom called many different states his home and eventually settled in Clayton, AL, passed away on June 20, 2024. His unwavering faith guided his life’s journey, bringing comfort and strength to all that knew him.

In addition to his family, James had passions that filled his life with joy. An avid fisherman, he found peace and solace on the water, where he shared many memorable moments with loved ones. He was also a skilled pool and spades player, enjoying “friendly” competition and camaraderie with friends and family alike. James was the go to grill master for any occasion. His heart overflowed with love for all children, whom he adored and delighted in nurturing.

James had a special talent for giving everyone he knew a nickname, endearing himself to all who crossed  his path. To know him was to love him, as his infectious, sense of the humor, and genuine kindness touched the lives of many.

James Fenn was preceded in death by his parents Calvin Fenn and Georgia Lee Fenn; siblings Larry Griffin of Rochester, NY, Willie Herbert Fenn  of Ozark, AL, and Alexander Fenn of Clayton, AL; aunts Virginia Griffin, and Ruthie Bee Freeman; uncles Fred Griffin, Charlie Griffin, both of Rochester, New York, and Marcus Monroe of Clayton, AL.

Surviving are his loving children Quentin Banks (Linda), Shynika Banks Etheridge (Jimmy), Brandon, all of Atlanta Georgia, Keyuna Banks Carter (Jasper) of Abbeville, AL, Rufus Tyson, Dainijel Tyson, Shaquille Fenn, and Byron Fenn, all of Ozark, AL; three surviving siblings.
