Janie Fountain Obituary

Janie Mae Fountain was born in Barbour County, Alabama on July 5, 1951 to Mr. James 

Henry and Rosie Mae (Kelley) Fountain. 

At a young age she dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of St. Luke Baptist 

Church in Baker Hill, Alabama. As a member she served faithfully in the adult choir and 

provided hospitality services by managing the kitchen and food services.

She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society 113, where she was apart of the application 

intake and benevolent committee. In addition, she was a member of the Bright Crown 

Chapter #220 of Eastern Star in Clayton, Alabama for forty-one years. As part of the chapter, 

she served as Martha on the Star. 

Janie was dedicated in her service and showed unique love to her family and her local 

community. She provided trusted care for several children and adults in the area during her 

lifetime. 

Janie Mae Fountain was called home on March 24, 2022 as a patient of Medical Center 

Barbour, where the ICU staff provided compassionate and excellent care during her stay.

She was preceded in death by one loving sister, Barbara Jean Fountain and one loving 

brother, Edward James (Fat) Fountain. 

She leaves to cherish her memories one faithful sister, Shirley (Joseph) Howard; Two faithful 

brothers, Timothy (Bertha) Fountain and James Edward Fountain; One sister-in-law, Barbara 

(Edward) Fountain; Two very special cousins/sisters, Lenora Turner and Betty Kyles Walker; 

Three very special friends/sisters, Emma Jean Cullins, Jeannie Cullins and Mary Dozier; A 

host of nieces, nephews, cousins, community children and friends; One loving niece/

daughter, Kimialeesha (John) Thomas that she assisted in raising from the age of six months 

old.
