Johnny J. Williams was born in Eufaula, Alabama on December 18, 1944, to John D. Williams and Daisy Lee McCall Williams. Johnny passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2023 in Syracuse, New York.
Johnny was a graduate of T.V. McCoo High School and went on to graduate from Alabama State University, a testament to his commitment to education and personal growth.
Following his graduation, Johnny answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. His time in the military was marked by courage and dedication, and he proudly upheld the values of honor and service to which he remained committed throughout his life. Upon completing his military services, Johnny embarked on a remarkable teaching career spanning an impressive fifty-three years within the Syracuse School District.
Mr. Williams was a devoted member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he actively participated in various church organizations, including the Male Chorus and the Laymen’s League, contributing to the spiritual growth of his congregation.
He is predeceased by his parents, John D. and Daisy Williams; brothers, Morris Williams, Matthew Williams, and sisters, Daisy Mae White, Juanita Williams, and Willie Dean Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Marcelinda Williams Spiddle (Michael), Sabrena Michelle Williams (Karl Hill, Jr), Pierre Williams (Brittany), and Jason Williams (Kayanna); brothers, Henry Williams (Zelbra), Earnest James Williams (Sallie), Peter Williams (Barbara), Paul Williams (Sharon), and Simon O’Hara (Mabel); sisters, Rosie Bell Russaw (William), Mary Ann Williams, Inetha Stanford, and Annie Will Williams; one aunt, Louise Mills. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
