Laura Ann Thornton

Laura Ann Thornton was born on December 14, 1949 to Robert Thornton, Sr and Louise Ray Thornton in Comer, Alabama.

Laura accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, when she joined Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She later joined Mount Olive Baptist Church, remaining an active member until health issued limited her attendance.

She attended Rebecca Comer Vocational High School. After graduation, she attended Tuskegee Institute, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Business. Later she attended Alabama State University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Education. Laura was a special education instructor for thirty years at Rebecca Comer High School, where she was loved and respected by her students.

Laura loved her family and would do anything to help them. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and auntie. Her family and friends will cherish the memories forever.

In addition to her parents, Louise and Robert Thornton, Sr, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Thornton and Mary Thornton Floyd, and one brother, Robert Thornton, Jr.

She is survived by a devoted son, Jeffery Lamar (Teresa) Thornton, Sr; a devoted nephew/son, Michael Anthony Floyd, Jr; one special nephew, Kavous Respress; a special brother-in-law, Michael Anthony (Charlene) Floyd, Sr; two grandsons whom she adored, Jeffery Lamar Thornton, Jr and Christian Rashard Thornton; five great nephews, Jakobe Brundidge, Dominic Floyd, Michai Floyd, Karter and Kash Floyd; three great nieces, Ajacia Floyd, Mikasia Floyd, Kensley Floyd, a host of cousins; special friend, Patricia Mitchel; special cousin, Linda Spann; her devoted caregivers, Inetha Wynn and Sharonda Jernigan.
