Levan Porter Sr. was born October 7, 1952 in Eufaula, Alabama to the late Bennie Haynes and the late Mattie Porter. He transitioned from this life on August 22, 2023 in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was a faithful, long time member of Mt. Level Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama. Levan loved to fish, was known as a fashionable dresser, and an avid Alabama football fan. Roll Tide! He was also an excellent cook. His favorite phrase was “Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?” He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Nellie Porter Morrell, Catherine Porter Upshaw, and brother Darryl Porter who died during infancy.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Mary Ceasar Porter; his sons Levan (Shantinell) Porter, Jr., Robert Porter Sr., and Horatio Porter all of Miami, FL; his daughter Jessica Witherspoon of Montgomery, AL. His granddaughters Vanessa, Kyndal, and Kamryn; his grandsons Levan III, Devonte’ and Roderick Jr.; his great grandchildren Levan IV, Ke’ Yahni, and Jah’kiylla; his sisters Helen Richardson,Mary Ann Armstrong, and Dorothy (Marvin) Brown; a special friend Theo “Bubba” Mencer, a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, and other love ones.
