Lola Mae Walker was born October 3, 1951 to Tom Walker and Lola Culver-Walker. She gained her wings Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Flowers Hospital.
Lola grew up in Abbeville, AL and attended the Henry County Training School in Henry County, AL. She joined Rocky Mount Missionary Church as an early age. As a teenager she met and was married to James E. Cooper. To this union, six children were born.
Her parents, five brothers (Jessie, Connie, Willie, Bobby and Roy) and three sisters (Cora, Codeine and Simmie) preceded her in death. Lola was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy. She was the backbone of her family, and the magnet that united her family.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: six children: Lola Cooper; Sherley Newsome (Tyrone); James, Jr. (Shawna); Levern Walker, Debra Lashae and Alan Walker (Shaquanna); one sister: Betty Walker; 16 grandchildren, Shanika, Charles, Christopher (Daijah), Shanice (Cory), Javarion, Destini, Terence, Tyler, Marquis (Jada), Jamond, James, James, Ty’ Keayra, Mantravio, Aalyiha, Xavier and Aniyah. 19 great-grandchildren, 3 bonus grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
