Luis H Rodriguez, Sr.

Luis H. Rodriguez Sr. was born on April 19, 1940, in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico to the late Hilda Rivera Rodriguez and the late Heriberto Rodriguez; the late Libertad Rodriguez also reared him. His parents moved to Waterbury, CT in the early 1950’s. He was baptized into the Catholic Faith at youth. He attended the public schools both in Puerto Rico and Waterbury, CT. Luis played semi-pro baseball and soft ball in Waterbury, CT. While living in Connecticut, he was a member of the Puerto Rican Society Club and Pride of Connecticut Elks Lodge #1437.

He met the love of his life in 1965, Ernestine Williams Rodriguez, whom he later married. To this union two children were born. His daughter, Zandra, preceded him in death. He was      employed at Stanley Works and Fafnir Bearing of New Britain, CT and Emhart Corp. of Berlin, CT.

Luis was a devoted and loving husband for fifty-four years. He was known as a caring, respectful friend to many who knew him; and a kind and generous person who always was willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help.

In 2003, He relocated with his wife to Eufaula, AL to help care for his ill in-laws. On October 12, 2022, after a short illness, Luis peacefully transitioned in the presence of his wife, son, and other family members. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife,    Ernestine and son Luis, Jr. of Eufaula, AL; five sisters: Elsa (Bruce) Dorias, Evelyn (Andrew) Rackich, Migdalia Gonzalez, Alexandria Green and Milsa Rodriguez, all of Connecticut; three brothers:  Milton (Michelle) Rodriguez; Miguel (Sandra) Rodriguez and William Rodriguez also of Connecticut. Also cherishing his memory eight sisters-in-law:  Callie P. Knox, Sallie (Winston) Bell, Mary W. Carter, Ann Walton, Fay W. Hooker, Patricia (Hamon) Thompson, Geraldine Morris, and Carolyn Rodriguez; two loving Goddaughters: Paula Hill Burks and Min. Valerie Bell; two loving Godsons: Maurice and Trevor Dorsey; two     devoted brothers-in-law: Hamon Thompson and Winston Bell; one aunt and uncle-in-law: Louise and McKinley Mills; and     special friend, Charlie Shorter, Jr.

Luis was also preceded in death by his two brothers: Robinson Rodriguez and Raymond Rodriguez; one sister, Eduvina  Rodriguez; his mother and father-in-law, Mirtha & Profite Williams; five brothers-in-law: Freddie H. Knox, L.C. Walton, Jim Williams, Sr., John A. Hooker and Alvin Carter, Jr.; and one sister-in-law, Lillian R. Williams.
