Mary Ruth (Williams) Lawrence

Mary Ruth Williams Lawrence was born on August 28, 1945 to the late Eddie Lee Williams and the late Mary Lee Young Williams of Abbeville, Alabama.

Mary Ruth accepted Christ and joined the Oaky Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She attended the Henry County Training School and moved to Florida shortly after.

Mary Ruth relocated from Florida to Newark, NJ, where she co-founded a gospel group called The Praying Angels of Alabama. They sang praises for several years. She also became a Nurses Assistant before traveling once again to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she became a foster parent and achieved many awards.

Mary Ruth finally decided to move back home after retirement and enjoyed going to church and spending time with family and friends.

On November 25, 2025, Mary Ruth departed this earthly life. In addition to her parents, Eddie and Mary Williams, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lawrence; three sisters, Mary Lillie Williams Fryer, Betty Ann Williams, and Gloria Dean Wiliams; one brother, Eddie Dean Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories: five sisters, Mary Ann Murry of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Annie Lois Lindsey (Jimmy) of Pompano Beach, FL, Louise Mason (Tony) and Mary Alice Kelly of Dothan, AL, and Cherrie Ann Jones (Raymond) of Rochester, NY; a friend more like a daughter, Tereasa Condry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
