Shenita Marie (Newman) Twyman

SHENITA MARIE NEWMAN TWYMAN was born on December 30th, 1955 in Abbeville, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her parents Emory J. Newman Sr. & Margaret Elizabeth Carter Newman.  Shenita wrote the final chapter of her life and softly closed the book on November 26. 2022 with love ones by her bedside.

She accepted Christ at an early age under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. James A. Smith at St. Peter Baptist Church, where her love for music was inspired by Ms. R.T. Jones.

Shenita attended Abbeville High School and participated in the marching band playing the clarinet. She was afforded the luxury of being a homemaker her entire adult life.  She relocated to Decatur, Georgia in 1982, and resided in Fayetteville, Georgia.

She was very loquacious and a fun loving person.  Her love for children, music, dancing and reading personified her the best.  On December 29, 2006 she joined in holy matrimony to Preston R. Twyman III.

Shenita leaves to cherish her memory husband Preston R. Twyman III, son Eric Monte’ Drake, daughter Melanie Marie Drake, both of Atlanta, GA.  Stepdaughter Taslema Twyman Murray(Kendall) of Duluth, GA; Step-grandkids Tyrek Twyman and Masen Murray; God-daughter Kiara Ayers of Atlanta, GA, and God-son Christopher Williams of Orlando, FL.

She had three siblings to precede her in death,  Lionel V. Newman, Sherrye L. Newman Morris, and Thomas Smith I. One remaining  brother Emory J. Newman Jr. (Blessie) of Abbeville, AL;  Aunt Lottie Newman Malone of Abbeville, AL; Brothers-in-law, William Y. Morris of Abbeville, AL and Derrick Twyman of Decatur, GA; Sisters-in-law, Blessie Freeman Newman of Abbeville, AL and Vannessa Twyman (Nate) of McDonough, GA; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Special cousins Patricia Tolbert, Emily Kelly, Mary Oates, Special friends Eunice Orr, Pearl Sampson, and Edward Drake, Jr.
