Mr. Thomas Jefferson Glasgow, 84, passed away at his home peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024. Thomas was born on August 29, 1940 to the late John A. Glasgow and Ada E. Richards Glasgow Sharpton in Henry County Abbeville, Alabama.
At an early age, Thomas confessed his faith in Christ and joined Most Holy Church of God in Christ in Abbeville, Alabama.
Thomas attended Henry County Training School. After graduation he worked for Florida Builders at Cape Kennedy in Melbourne, FL, working in constructing housing for the military.
Thomas then relocated to Brooklyn, NY and worked his way up as a carpenter and joined New York City District Council of Carpenters. He also felt a need to make a difference in his community and served in law enforcement. Motorcycles became a unique expression of his love of adventure. He mastered the skill and became the President of the Pythons Motorcycle Club in Brooklyn, NY, demonstrating that being a Black Man at that time was not conformed by the norms of society. During his lifetime, he became an esteemed member of the Freemasonry.
In addition to his parents, John and Ada Sharpton, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Glasgow.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Brenda S. Tolley-Glasgow of Marion, IL; his children, Cherry Glasgow, Diane Boyd, Kenyetta Glasgow, all of Brooklyn, NY, Darleen Glasgow Brice (Steve) of Hempstead, NY, Tracy Cooper, Turkisha Cooper, all of Troy, NY, Thomas J. Glasgow, Jr (Sierra) of Hampton, VA, Alphonso Veazy (Rhonita) of Fayetteville, NC, James A. Tolley of Brooklyn, NY; his brother, The Honorable Rev. Alfred C. Sharpton (Kathy) of New York, NY; his sisters, Ernestine Tina Glasgow of Dothan, AL and Joy Cheryl Sharpton of New Orleans, LA; his special nephew, Rev. Kenneth Glasgow; his loyal friends, Eugene Tate of Willingboro, NJ, Ira Cherry, Jr of Brooklyn, NY and Richard Bailey of Dothan, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
