Ms. Thywanda Massey was born on July 14, 1959 in Barbour County, Alabama to the late Sammie McNear and Ramona Watson. She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Zion Baptist Church, where she remained a member until she departed this life.
Thywanda gained her wings on Monday, September 22, 2025 at her home. Before leaving, she blessed this world with four children whom she loved dearly.
Thywanda was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her father, Sammie McNear, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn McNear and Karen McNear; and one beloved son-in-law, Hedrick Ware.
She leaves cherished memories to her mother, Mrs. Ramona Watson; her children, Tamiko Ware, Brandon Massey, Johnesha Massey and Jason (Stephanie) Massey; three sisters, Levolia McNear, Kim McNear and Gail McCoy; two brothers, Keith McNear and Donald Brown; one aunt, Letitia Johnson; one uncle, Samuel Wilson; six grandchildren, Tikiya Massey, Christopher Hicks, Raequan Hicks, Jayven Harris, Braydon Massey and Kennidi Massey; one great granddaughter, Ariya Massey; three nieces, Charisa, Kederean, and Leah; two nephews, Marcus and Kenobie; a special extended family, Patricia Thomas, Marilyn Mixon and Maurice Massey; a host of cousins and close loyal friends that remained close for years, Randy George, Ostinner Jones, Mable Galloway, Pam King, Ivory Baker, Marilyn Gordon, and one that affectionately called her mama Wanda, Mike Key, and her second mom in Christ, Mrs. Sarah Cossey.
