Willie Reeves Obituary

Willie James Reeves, knowingly known as “Joe Lewis” was born in Henry County, on May 8, 1938, to Will Adam and Florilla Reeves, both who preceded him in death. He departed his earthly life at the home of one of his nieces on November 13, 2025.

In addition to his parents, Willie James was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Darby Reeves; son, Kelvin Jackson; his two brothers, Willie B Tyson and Tommy Lee Reeves; two sisters, Rosa Mae Tyson Williams and Maggie Tyson Green.

Joe Lewis was a loving and generous person with a big heart to help people as much as he could. He could not finish school, because he had to help his parents in the field and help raise his younger siblings. As he got older, he found himself working in the lumber business, working as a puck wooder. This allowed him to be self-employed until he could not work anymore after a tragic accident on the job.

Joe Lewis was a man who loved to fish and deer hunt. If you wanted to find him, you could always pass his house and he would be sitting outside on the porch, sharpening his knife while singing a hymn. You were always welcome to his home.

Joe Lewis gave his life to Christ at an early age, attending Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he also was ordained to be a deacon. He was a faithful member until he started developing health issues. His health took a turn earlier this year and rapidly declined in the past few months.

Joe Lewis leaves to cherish his memories: his five loving daughters, Adrienne Moorer, Natalie Darby, and Ashley Darby, all of Eufaula, AL, Tanya Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, and Nicole Darby (Latonia Darby), Columbus, GA; his two sons, Howard Fair of Hartford, CT and Cory Jackson, Fort Myers, FL; His siblings, Sarah Liptroth, Vonnie Steele, Virginia Richardson, Orlando Reeves (Sue Ann Woodley), and Willia Dean Horn, all of Eufaula, AL; nineteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, and god-daughters, other relatives and friends.
